Our name
The threshold
A threshold is the one part of a house that belongs to both the inside and the outside. Crossing it is a small thing most of us stopped noticing years ago — but for someone living alone, opening the door is the whole decision.
Our mark is that doorway: two lines rising to a point, with the light at the top. It's there to remind us what we're handed every time somebody lets us in.

Arkand was founded by Abdelkadir Abdirahman, who works in care himself. He is the company's director and registered manager — the person accountable for the care, and usually the person who picks up the phone.

We work for the whole family
When someone starts needing help at home, more than one life changes. So we treat the family as the people we're working for, not as an audience to be updated afterwards.

Where we stand with the CQC
Arkand Care Ltd is registered at Companies House in England and Wales (no. 17291178). We are not registered with the Care Quality Commission, and we do not provide personal care.
Companionship, help around the home, shopping, simple meal preparation and accompanied outings are not regulated activities, and we provide them today. Washing, dressing and medication are regulated, and we will not offer them until we are registered to.
We would rather tell you what we cannot do than be vague about what we can.
